The monthly meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Board takes place to-morrow.

Owing to the wet weather to-day, it has been decided to postpone the Methodist garden fete, which was to have been held at Mr and Mrs Frank Penn’s garden this afternoon. The function will now be held on Saturday next, commencing at 1.30 p.m.
The Wellington Kose and Carnation Club has decided not to hold its annual rose show this spring. However, a members’ show will be held towards the end of January, at which lectures will be delivered by prominent members on the subject of rose culture.
The annual concert and dunce in connection with the Te Horo school is announced for Thursday, 16th inst. The children and teachers are busily engaged in preparation for the function, which promises to be an exceedingly meritorious one. Full particulars arc advertised.

A woman went into a photographer’s: shop and asked, “Doi you photograph children, sir!” “Yes, madame,” was the reply. “That is my specialty.’’ “What you you charge?” “Twelve shillings a dozen, madame.” “Thank
you very much,”, said the woman, “but I’m afraid X must call again later on. I’ve only got eleven.”
An Otaki Native, named Mita Hori, was arrested by Constable Greggan at Paekakariki yesterday, on a charge of having stolen a ease of dried eels, valued at £2 10s, from the railway, goods shed at Otaki. Accused was brought before Messrs H. Freeman : ,-d Frank Bennett, J’s. P.. this morng, when he pleaded guilty to the < harge. He was convicted and fined : and ordered to refund the cost of 'he eels; in default one month’s im- ; risonment. Fred BarTatt still leads the way with boot and shoe repairs.
