STARVES CHILDREN FUND
meeting- at otaki. A meeting of the male members of the committee appointed for the purpose of considering ways and means of alleviating distress among the starving children of Europe was held at the Town Board's offices last night. Present: Messrs J. P. Brandon (chairman), C. Kilsby, J. Fielding, L. St. George, T. Swensson, H. Nieolson, G. r. Davies (secretary), and the Rev. G. F. Petrie, M.A. The secretary gave a brief resume of business transacted by the ladies, stating they approved of a shop day on the loth inst. They also suggested a gala day at the beach. The ladies intended organising committees at, Manakau and Te Horo. They would provide afternoon tea on tho 15th and kelp generally in otter directions. It was decided that tho Bev. Slade and Messrs T. King and Pritchard be asked to collect vegetables for sale from tho Chinese market gardeners; that the prices for the picture enter- . tainmeut be fixed at 2s and Is <>d dress circle and downstairs respec lively, children half-price; that the. sympathy of Manakau and lo Hoic residents be secured towards th. movement; that Messrs Andrew, Kobt. Be van, and Major Tatum (Manakau) | and Messrs B. Catley and T. H. Wind j ley (Te Horo) bo added to the comxaittee and asked to assist. j Mr Fielding, on behalf of the Brass j Band, said a number of selection-would-be rendered prior to the auc j •tion sale. The chairman and. the Rev. Betrio were appointed to secure musi- J cul items for the evening portion oi ( the programme.
