RIFLE SHOOTING.
The recent war has emphasised the great asset an expert riile shot is to the Empire, and apart from that important point, thousands of melt find in rifle shooting a sport at once fas dilating and instructive. Its revival therefore is something which should meet .with encouragement and support. In pre-war days the Wanganui Kifle Association held an annual championship meeting at which the chief event was the North Island championship. These meetings, which were held on the Putiki range (Wanganui), drew large numbers of riflemen front ail parts of the Dominion. The matter of resuscitating this association was recently taken up and preparations are now in train to hold a meeting on the I’utikj range on December Nth anti dSth. Many valuable trophies and cash prizes will be awarded to successful competitors. The trophy for the championship event is a silver challenge cup, valued at 30 guineas. No doubt there are many rifle shots in this district who will make an effort to bring the championship to t-he Manawatu. The programme will be issued :hert!y.
