LAWN TENNIS.
A "FIELD DAY” AT OTAKI. ' OTAKI V. VICTORIA COLLEGE. Tennis players had a good day on -the courts on Tuesday (St. Andrew’s Day), Victoria College sending a strong team of ten men and six ladies to Otaki. Glorious weather prevailed, consequently the day’s outing was a splendid one, and all present spent a most enjoyable I imc. The Otaki men more than held their own with the visitors, but Otaki ladies, minus the services of practically their best lady player (Miss O’Rourke), were no match for the Victoria College ladies. The match resulted in a win for the visitors by Jt» sets to 12 —a. wellcontested match throughout. Many of the sets were very even, while the standard of play was of a high order for country matches.
I The visitors were royally entertained by the Otaki players, the ladies excelling themselves in their hospitality. The visitors speak in highest terms of their treatment, and one and all enjoyed themselves immensely.
