CONVENT SCHOOL.
RESULTS OF EXAMINATION. The result of the recent examinations at the Otaki Convent School is to hand, aud, us usual, is highly satisfactory. Writing to the Rev. Mother, the examiner, Pro. W. D. Harrison, principal of the Home Study Business College (Sydney) states: — “1 have lost no time in going through your examination papers, and now have the very pleasant duty of reporting that all the pupils have come through most successfully. “The list of marks which I am enclosing will show you that the pupils have continued the very high excellence which they have maintained in former examinations. These marks are, 1 consider, the most lining tribute that could be paid to t,Ue splendid way in which you, have organised your commercial department, as well us the superior teaching which has been given in every department. Not only in the elementary and intermediate grades, but iu the advanced and diploma divisions will be seen the very exceptional results which have attended your efforts iu the recent examination. Evidently the pupils are most intelligent aud industrious, and they seem to have co-operated iu an especial manner with their zealous teachers. The book-keeping, both in the practical and theoretical sections, is well up to the average, and, in some cases, the work deserves particular mention. The shorthand outlines are extremely tine, the theory excellent; iu fact, nothing more could be desired. In the
typewriting sections the speed work is eery much above the average, while neatness aud display are exhibited in ill other divisions.
“It is very difficult for me to npikc any distinction amongst so many ex celleat. papers, but on this occasion 1 think particular mention must be made to the exceptionally fine work of Keith St. George, who has been awarded a beautiful gold modal. The work of this candidate ranks amongst the best t have received during the present examination, and will, I feci sure, compare favourably with any of the work done in the large business colleges of the metropolis.
“Taking everything into considers! tiou, I. have no hesitation in staling that this is one of the finest examinations that has been held for some time, uni I. take this opportunity of congratulating you all, both teachers and pupils, upon the splendid results which have attended, your combined efforts. “D.S. —1 am sending the diplomas, gold medal and certificates under separate cover, and hope everything will reach you safely and in good ime.
