LEVIN STOCK SALE. r £he yarding at Wednesday's stock sale at Levin, especially of cattle and sheep, must have been the largest since the autumn sales. There was hardly an empty pen in the cattle section, there being bigger entries than usual in the fat classes, also of for- | ward and store cows and steers. £ Pigs.—There was a fairly big entry of weaners, but the sale was lifeless, and where the prices reached up to £2 a fortnight ago, Wednesday’s rates were from 17s lid for small to 21s, 255. ami 2tis, with only a moderate demand. Stores were down, 355, this up to £2 5s being the best values obtainable. I’orkers were a little easier, but all lines wore cleared at from £4 Ids, £1 15s. £4 lSs, and £5. and baconers up to £5-.lns and £<>.
Dairy Cattle.—The entry was not so large as usual. Quality was only moderate, but practically every lot was cleared. There is still inquiry for anything likely to turn out well or near profit, good-looking cows at drop fetching up to £l7 ss, and cows in milli £0 to £7 10s. Lata, culvers were not much sought after, and some good average sorts, lo calve in laic autumn, were quilted from £7 to £3. There was a full yarding of young dairy stock, mostly yearling and twoyear heifers, all of good averagequality and well grown. There was a brisk demand, good coloured stuff bringing £0 10s, £7, £3 13s, and £9 fa lid, while small sorts were quitted at £3 11s to £4. Some Jersey entries were among this section, and created keen competition at £l9 and £2O. Eat cattle comprised some prime lots of bullocks, which realised £ls 12s tid, £lO sc, and £l6 7c 6d. Eat and forward cows brought up to £9 10.-, and [orv-aid bullocks to £l2. •“tore Cattle.—The entry was a big one. composed mostly of empty cows and steers. Low-conditioned cows I were hard to quit, and went as low as £3 10c. ro £4. and better sorts to £5, £7 2c fid, £7 7s fid and £3. Steers made front £7 5s to £S and upward, and yearlings £2 10s, £3 9s and £4. l'at sheep were in stronger force than last sale, with prices a little easier: Good hoggets reached 345. 355, and fat ewes 35s to 375. and shorn ewes 31s 9d. In store sheep, hoggets fetched up to 21s and 28s 9d, and ewes and lambs, of which there were several big entries, 3 1 s and 395. This section was dull, and a number of pens were passed. TE HORO STOCK SALE. Messrs Dalgetv and Co., Ltd., report having held their monthly sale at Te Horn on Monday, when only a small yarding came forward. Quotations:—M.s. 22s 4d. yearling heifers £4 2s fid to £5. 2-year heifers £7 to £7 10s, 3-year steers to £8 10s. springing cows to £l4 10s.
