NOTES. The trouble which arose some time ago between the Otaki Maori Racing Club and Mr W. H. Bowden, the wellknown horsetrainer, is still in the balance, but. will shortly be revived, when the Racing Commission will make inquiries into the matter. It is anticipated that the Racing Commission will not commence it sittings much before Christmas, it being necessary first of all to secure particulars of applications and further information as to claims for racing permits. Xo date has yet been fixed for the opening of the commission. Tlie secretary of the TaraJahiCartcrton Club submitted a statement of the receipts and expenditure in connection with the recent race meeting, showing a profit of £7-1 JOs 7d, which was £3O increase on the previous year’s record. To this has to be added the £3UQ increase in stake money, which was considered highly satisfactory. The Government taxes for the meeting amounted to £ll3O Os 3d. Arrowsmith’s victory in the Stewards’ Handicap under 9.13 is the best weight carrying performance shown in the list of winner* ot that race. The highest weight previously carried bv a winner in the big sprint event was 9.0 by Vladimir in 1905. The totalisntor investments on die N.Z. This Cup is the 59th to be run. the race having been instituted in 1361.
