CRICKET.
HOROWHENUA ASSOCIATION MEETING. The annual meeting of the Horowhenua Cricket Association was held on Friday evening in Mr Allison’s rooms. Clubs represented were as follows:—Levin Y.M.C.A. (Saturday), Messrs O’Connor and W. Harding; (Wednesday), Messrs J. Patrick and H. E. Keys; Shannon, Messrs L. Randall and A. H. Morgan; Whitanui, Messrs T. Morgan and P. Higgins; Te j Horo, Mr E. Claridge. Mr Claridge was voted to the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The balance-sheet for the year was submitted, showing receipts tQ be £3 I 3s, expenses £2 6k, credit balance, 17s. The election of officers was then proceeded with as follows:—Patron, Mr W. H. Field, M.P.; president, Mr J. Kebbell; vice-presidents, Mr H. Windley (Te Horo), Mr D. S. McKenzie (Levin), Mr D. W. Mathcson (Levin), Mr E. Newman, M.P. (Oroua); secretary and treasurer, Mr H. E. Keys. It was resolved that the Association affiliates with the New Zealand Cricket Association, and that Mr D. Rcecc, of Christchurch, be asked to represent the Association on the New Zealand Council. It was resolved that the opening of the season’s competition matches be fixed for Saturday, November 27, and tho following was the result of the first drawing of the fixtures:—Levin Y.M.C.A. play Whitanui at Whitanui; Shannon play Te Horo at Levin. It was resolved, providing the Te Horo Club consented, that all Shan-non-Te Horo and Whitanui-Te Horo matches be played at Levin for convenience of travelling. The competition points were fixed as follows: —Three for win on two innings, two for win on one innings, one for draw. In the event of a Wednesday competition being started, Wednesday players may play also on Saturdays, the time allowed for entries in the competition to be extended until after the first match on the 27th inst. It was resolved tTiat the visiting team must supply the ball in every 1 match, and that the drawing of stumps ' be at 6.30 p.m. for December, January ■ and February, and 6 p.m. in March. 1 The fee to the Association was again ■ fixed at £1 Is. ' On the motion uf Mr Randall. ' seconded by Mr Patrick, Mr H. E. Keys was sincerely thanked by the Association for his services as secretary. Mr Keys in reply said that i • whatever he did was absolutely out of love for "the game” and sport allyMr Randall congratulated the Asso- £ ciation on the acquisition of such players as Mr J. Patrick. Votes of thanks to Mr Allison for use of his room, and to the chairman, concluded a most enthusiastic and promising meeting.
