The attendance at the Palmerston yliow on Friday last was a record. Tlu: gate takings for the three days iast week totalled £1915 Ills id, as against 1 Halts tin 8u last year, the previous* record. The issue of show catalogues was sold out by 10 a.in. on Friday, which gives a good indication of the attendance and interest taken in the show. A return laid on the table ot the House of Representatives on Friday on the motion of Mr .1. A. Voun;', (Waikato) showed that from April i ? t. 1891. to March Mist, 1919, some 4 081,000 acres of Native land had been purchased by the Crown at a cost of £2.600.000. Of this area, 3,667,999 acres were profitably occupied at March .'list, 1919. Owing to the price of material, horse-shoeing in Otaki increases in price from the Ist of next month. The performance of nine wedding ceremonies in one day. in addition to his ordinary duties, would probably have been rather more than a minister of the church would have eared to i attempt, but this all formed part of rue daily routine for the registrar for births, marriages and deaths at Auckland last week. Th-f became so hot that the British AmbasSAf>i (Sir Auckland Geodes) had to state that only 17 per cent of the oil of the world earse from Briiiiji-owned oil lands, so the charge was Quite ridiculous.
