j DEATH OP ADVANCE. j Information has been received from Bulls of the death of the oile-time brilliant racehorse Advance, which occurred at Mr Duncan Eraser’s, Parawanui. Advance was by Vanguard — Laurel, and was bred by the lafe Mr ' Donald Fraser. He won his first race in P. Edwards’ name (under lease), and was then leased to Mr Duncan, of Wellington, who raced as ‘‘Douglas Gordon,” the black horse being trained by the veteran, Mr Jos. Prosser. T. (“Tommy”) Wilson rode Advance in his early engagements, but later Charlie Jenkins piloted the son of Vanguard in most of his successes. Poliowing are Advance’s performances rn the Dominion: —Season 189 S-it (two-year-old): Two starts; won Nursery ! Handicap, o furlongs, at Wellington 1 It.O. summer meeting first day. Ivau i unplaced on second day. Stakes won, 11170. 1899-1900: Fifteen starts, 10 | firsts, one second, two thirds, twice uu- | placed. Won Hatvkc’a Bay Spring Flying Handicap, liieeaiton Welter j (Wellington), Hutt Park Spring HanI dicap, Woodvillo J.C. Autumn Hand;- ! cap, Wanganui Cup, Wanganui Stake ~ | Dunedin Cup, Auckland Easter Handij cap, A.H.C. Century Stakes, A.E.C. i Autumn Handicap (last three races wen at same meeting). Won the last ! one (Autumn Handicap) with IC.'. Stakes won, £3251; was top of winning horses for the season. 1900-1: Four • starts, fotir wins. Won Wanganui k Stakes, Cauterbuiy Cup, C.J.C. Jubilee [ Cap, Auckland Cup. Stakes won, j £l-130. 1901-: Did not start. 1902-3: I Five starts, two firsts. Won New Zea I laud Cup (with 10.4 in 2.31 1-5), Zeilandia Plate, second Jackson Stake.-, third C.J.C. Challenge Stakes, unplaced I Wanganui Cup. Stakes won, £ißs.
