The Government has re-appointed to the Legislative Council Sir William Hall-Jones, whose term had just expired.
At Wednesday’s meeting of the Alethoilist Church officials, it was inti-
mated that the Rev. \V. G. Slade. ALA., had accepted an invitation to the Woolston (Christchurch) circuit, and. subject to Conference appointment, would move south next April. The meeting resolved not to extend in invitation to anyone to sueeeed lve>. Slade. Tmt to leave the appointment to Conference, which .will meet next February at Wellington.
When the Te lioro Aleiliodist Sun day school assembled on Sunday last. Miss Best was surprised by a handsome presentation of a beautiful silver teapot, given to her by the scholars and teachers of the school, ltt making the. presentation, Air Kirk made reference to the faithful and valuable services rendered by Aliss Best us teacher and organist for the school over a lengthy period, and stated advantage had been taken ol' the near approach of an interesting event in Miss Best’s life to show their appreciation of liework. Aliss Best suitably responded.
