tf PRESENTATION TO MRS KENT, j i A pleasant evening was spent at J I Paekakariki on Saturday, when quite i j a large number assembled at Sr. I j Peter’s Hall to bid farewell to Mrs j I Kent, one of Ihe oldest residents of , II the district, and who is now leaving to I | take up her residence at Ohakune, I where her son, Mr Sid. Kent, resides. [ he having recently- been promoted to ! district engineer. I During the evening Mr Kidd, on be- t half of the residents, presented Mrs Kent with a bread -board and silver stand. In the course of liis remarks (Mr Kidd said that Mrs Kent would b ; j greatly missed in the district, mor" especially by the children. She had always been to the fore when anything was needed in the way of entertainments for the children. Mrs Kent thanked the people for itheir kindness, and stated that al- 1 | though she was going away she would return, and if there was no train she i would come by aeroplane. Slip also i reminded the people she was going [ away a widow and hoped to use The bread board to cut her next wedding cake on. Much merriment was cause l by these remarks. NOTES. A parry of walkers from Wellington went out last Sunday week over the hills to Pahautnmii, to their sorrow.
