PERSONAL.

_ Mr .11. J. Dando, of Wellington, was among the visitors to Otaki yesterday.

1 Rev. Geo. Frost, of Levin, and Rev. W. G. Slade, M.A., of Otaki, exchanged pulpits yesterday.

Mr G. H. Williams, who has been confined to his bed by a serious illness, is now making good recovery.

Mr G. H. Kiugdon, who has disposed of his farm at Ohau, intends settling in the Carnarvon district.

It is probable that Messrs -T. P--Brandon. J. If. Bills, and C. Ivilsby, of Otaki, will shortly be gazetted as justices of the jicace.

Mr W. C. Eggletou, house master at the Boys’ Training'Farm, who was recently transferred to the Auckland district, has returned to the Farm and resumed his former position.—“ Chronicle.”

Mr George Brightwell died at lianakuu last night. He was very well known in this district, where he has resided, off and on. for a number of years. He was also well known in the Hawke’s Bay district. A tungi is now being held at Manakau.

Mrs G. Wells died .at the Otaki Hospital 1 his morning, after a very long and painful illuess extending over a couple of years or more. She bore her affliction with great fortitude, but "its a very great sufferer. Mrs Wells was u big-hearted, hospitable woman, a good mother, and held in high esteem by all who knew her. She leaves a husband and four daughters, with whom much sympathy is felt in their bereavement. Mr W. St. George, who has been connected with the staff of the Bank of Australasia at Otaki for the past uinu months, leaves to-night lor Tauranga, where lie has been transferred. During his term at the bank here Mr St. George has proved efficient as well as popular, and his friends will wish him success in his new quarters.
