# RESIGNATION OF TWO COUNCILORS DEMANDED. Christchurch, August 31. The Lyttelton Borough Council found itself faced with an unpleasant problem in the shape of two '• tags” on its balance-sheet, and a letter front the Auditor-General (Colonel R. J. Collins) demanding the resignation of two councillors, J. T. Norton and J. 11. Collins, on the group'd that they had supplied goods to the Council. The
’Mags” concerned an account for £25 7s 9d, paid to Councillor Norton for enI tertaining children at the Peace celebrations, and an account for £2-1 Is (id paid to Councillor Collins for supplying Hags for the children. The Alayor stated that Councillors Norton and Collins had no idea that in supplying the Peace Celebrations Committee they were supplying the Council. After discussion it was decided that the Town Clerk be sent to AVel- - liogton to interview the -AuditorGeneral. and place the whole of ih--facts before him, and that while in Wellington the Town Clerk consult All T. F. AJartiri (solicitor to the Aluniei pal Association), the object Vicing not only to resist the unseating of the two councillors, but also to have the ‘•tags” removed from the balancesheet.
