COMMERCIAL PIG-RAISING.

MANAKAU BRANCH FAKMEKS’ UNION. Under the auspices of the above Society a meeting was held on Thursday, -litli August, when -Mr K. W. Gorringe, Government expert in swine husbandry, gave the lirst of a series of lectures on the commercial raising of pigs. The night was wet and windy, which no doubt accounted for the fact ihat persons interested outside Manakau did not take advantage of the invitation extended to them by the branch. The lecturer has a thorough knowledge of ids subject. He at one time kept UO breeding sows, and only gave up his farm on account of ill-health. Mr Gorringe is at present on a lectur ing tour as far north as Dargaviile. and when lie next visits Manukau some lime in October it is horied many farmers will come to hear him.
