LEVIN’S HOLIDAY ARRANGEMENTS.
The Levin Chamber of Commerce il has adopted the following recommen- f dations: — 1 That Monday, .ltd January. 1921. be j a public holiday: that Faster Saturday I J be a public holiday. I In the event of any special holiday , | falling on any day but Wednesday. j Wednesday of that week to be a full | I working day. I | Holidays which for any exceptional j { reason may occur during the year shall t I be advertised in the usual way by the | Mayor, if he deems it necessary, pro- ■ vided only that if the holiday is an j optional one, it shall first-be agreed to , by the Chamber, either at an ordinary j meeting or a special meeting called for that purpose: that it is to the interest | of business places to close at S p.m. on j the kite night, which, if put into operation, would be readily agreed to by the , majority of people in the-community: that Saturday afternoon be a universal half-holiday.
