Dr. Guy H. Scholcfield is at present in Christchurch, where he is to deliver a series of lectures on the Paeilic at Canterbury College. The ltev. and Mrs Carlyle and family, from West Coast, arc on a visit to Otaki, staying at the local seaside resort. The funeral of the late Mr J. G, Poynter, for many years postmaster at Otaki, took place at Otakuhu on Tuesday, when many relatives and friends were present. .Mr and .Mrs WVA. Veiteh, of Wan-’ ganui, who will be week-end visitors ts Otaki, will be the guests of Mr and .Mrs Bargisson, of Otaki Kailway. Mra tiargissou is a sister to Mrs Veiteh. 31r Lric Williams, of Otaki, w ho. a 3 a wireless operator, has had several trips abroad, has now joined the Tol'au, which will visit parts of America. 31 r Williams has been enjoying a few days’ holiday in this district. Mr Frank Levy who has visited New Zealand oil numerous occasions, was a visitor to Otaki yesterday, making arrangements for the appearance of the Allan Wilkie Co. Mr Levy kin been the means of bringing some of the leading companies to the Dominion. The members of the Wanganui education float'd on Wednesday presented Mr F. i’irani with a wallet well tilled with notes in appreciation of hit. great devotion to the cause of education as exemplified by his service us a member of the Board for nearly a quarter of a century. A quiet wedding was solemnised at the. Basilica, Bill Sirfiet, Wellington, on Wednesday, when Mr Athol D. Bennett, sou of .Mr and Mrs Frank Bennett. ol Otaki, was murrjed to Miss Dorothy Goddard. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. Father Diguar. Ike wedding was a quiet one, only relatives ol the couple being present. These wore afterwards entertained at tile resilience of the brides’ parents, 'i lie happy couple afterwards left on their honeymoon tour, after which they will lake up residence in Palmerston North.
