■ Mr J. MeCbesncy, of To Horo, is ai present indisposed, and likely to be confined indoors for some time. .Mrs Arthur Thompson and Mrs Gleeson. who recently undent'-at operations at the Moutere private bos pita!, are reported to be doing well Mi,.- A. M. McLean, matron of the Grey town Hospital, died on Sunday. Deceased had been ailing for some time, heart trouble supervening on in ilucnza being the cause of death. Mrs Byron Brown and Miss Brown leave for Sydney on Friday, on hole day. They will join Mr Brown, who has cancelled his trip to England, and vi-tt many of the principal places in Australia. Mr and Mrs J. O. .Stevens and f .'it'll v have decided to remove from Otaki to take up residence in Welling on. The-,- intend to dispose of r Oicki property, but will not be shifting to the city for some little time—probably about three months. Colonel Jury. M.D.. and Dr. -Sharp spent the week-end pig-hunting in th<Otaki Gorge, where they had good sport. One fine “Captain Cook” was j shot, and his tasks secured as trophies of the chase. These will be taken by the colonel to England. Colonel -Tory -hortiy leave-; for the Homeland on a matrimonial venture. Mr A. C. Holmes,-who unsuccessfully contested the Wairarapa seat against Mr A. D. McLeod, and who has been acting as Deputy-Mayor at Feather ■ ton, has decided, on account of health reasons, to settle in tbiT;district. —probably at Te Horo. Mr Holmes has led a verv active life, and it is mainly on this account that he has suffered in health- Prior to leaving the Wairarapa Air Holmes was presented with a • cheque for a very substantia! sum. ) Mr and Mrs H. O. Jones and family | will shortly be leaving Otaki to take 4 up residence in Wellington, they hav- h ing sold ’ their residence. Vaerenga i road, to Mr Device, Upper Hitt. Mr • and Mrs Jones have resided here some j thirty years, and are known throughout the district for their many good ; qualities. Mrs -Tone- will be specially i missed in musical circles. .the is a brilliant nlaniste. and her services have always bees placed unreservedly at the disposal of the public. Miss Evelyae .Tone-, who has come to the forefront as: a vocalist, will also be much missed.
