OBITUARY.
♦ MR, J. W. POYNTER. J Residents of this district will hear I with regret of the death of Mr J. W. • Poynter (late postmaster at Otaki), i which occurred suddenly at his home, | Otahuhu, Auckland. Mr Poyner had not been in good health for a long 1 time past, and it is presumed death was due to heart failure, i Deceased was born in Nelson in I Sim. I He was a most popular and painstaking postmaster at Otaki, where he made hosts of friends. From Otaki he went to Paeroa, from whence he was | superannuated, after more than | forty years’ loyal service. Mr Poynter was sort of the late I Mr John Poyner, one of the first emigrants 1o arrive at Nelson in 1812 —a ; mail who held many important public positions. Deceased leaves a wife —he was married twice —and a large family. ■ with whom much sympathy is felt. ! Mcsdaincs G. 15 rum ley. Archie Smith. ' and Geo.
