SPORTING TROPHIES.
HONOURS FOR OTAKI SPORTS. The honour and glory of having won on Australian turf the handsome piece, of plate given by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales rests with Otaki. through the efforts of the popular local liorseowncr, who races under the nom de plume of “Harvey Raynor.” The valuable trophy, which has now arrived at; Otahi, is well over a foot square, is mounted on four legs, and encased, while the neat inscription speaks for itself. It is as follows:—“Australia Jockey Club.. Winter Meeting, in honour of the H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, June 1-th. 1920, Renown Hurdle Race, won by Fisher.” It will be remembered that Mr Dug. Webster took Fisher across to Australia, and although not. successful on one occasion, scored on the second, and thus won the Prince's trophy, which is of solid silver, and a memento that one may be justly and pardonably proud of. We add our congratulations to the owner of Fisher, to the trainer (Mr Webster) and jockey (F. Cress). .Mr Webster. Fisher’s trainer, was the recipient of a valuable and novel presentation also the gift ot His Royal Highness—in the form of an cight-dav clock and an inkstand combined. The lid. wlien opened, reveals ]ioth"the above. Cress was not forgotten, and he received from His Highness a handsome gold medal. We wish “Mr Rajner further success, not only on Australian turf but on the tracks of New Zealand, especially as he is recognised as one of the cleanest and best advocates of the “snort of kings,”
