See adveriisftiaenr. On Sunday next, at the Otaki Anglican Church, the celebrant at the S a.m. communion and preacher at the evening: service will be the Bev. J. E. Blackburn. There will be no "service at 2.30 at Te Horo. To-nignt> entertainment at Te Horo in aid ot the Anglican churchroom promises to be a huge sate ess. £. splendid all-round, varied programme will be submitted, including amateur theatrical?,, songs in costume, dancfts by leading Wellington performers, and r.oeal items by visitors from Taranaki and by leading district artists. The concert will be followed br a dance. By an explosion of gas at SXefsrj Harvey and Co.'s factory. Levin, oj Wednesday, Mr A. Price, one pi tie staff, and Mr A. Seaton, a gasworks employee, received painful injuries. A defect in the engine was being remedied and it is evident that a charge of gas was left in the .cylinder. The concussion was great, while the engine-room appeared as a sheet of flame.

As the-result of the Y.M.C.A. shop day in Levin on Tuesday some £2O ■were realised. The eptition requesting that Otaki be formed into a borough has been forwarded to Mr W. H. Field, M.P., for presentation to the Governor-General. Owing to the visit of the English Pierrots on Monday night, the fortnightly meeting of the Otaki Literary and Debating' Club, arranged for that night, has been abandoned. Messrs Truelight and Co. have received a consignment of Poor Man's oranges, which are very scarce. The firm offer this fruit at the lowest possible price. At the request of members of the Otaki Town Board, Mr W. H. Field, M.P., will visit Otaki to-morrow to discuss various matters of interest to the town and district. Demonstrations of fruit tree by the Government Orchard Inst/uctor (Mr Whelun) take place as advertised—at Waikanae and Te Horo on Tuesday next, and at Foxton next Wednesday. Mr W. F. Blick, who has been for -- years engaged in missionary work in China, will give an address, illustrated by pictures, at the Druids' Hall tonight, commencing at 7 p.m. This should provide a most interesting evening and attract a large audience. Mr W. H. Field (Otaki) has asked (ho Minister of Agriculture if the Government will take steps to encourage the formation in New Zealand of boys' agricultural clubs, which have been such a conspicuous success in the United States. The euchre tournament to have been played on Friday night between members of the Druids' Lodge and their friends, has been arranged to take place on "Wednesday next in the Druids' Hall. An enjoyable time is assured all who attend. A local schoolboy (Master Keith .St, George) recently cycled on a push bike to Wanganui.
