Mr A. E. Miuton, of Otaki, is at present on a visit to Rotorua .lor health reasons. Mr fc>. W. Rep ley, solicitor, who has been indisposed for some time, is making a good recovery, and resumes duties this week. Mr A. D. Thomson, one of the Assistant Public Service Commissioners, late ts.M. in this district, has retired on superannuation. At the Levin Borough Council meeting on Monday' night the resignation of Cr. T. Broome was received aud unaccepted with regret. Cr. Broome's intention is to shortly leave Levin. Mr W. C. Egglcton, who has been on the stall ol tho Weraroa Training Farm for some time, Jsas been appointed fo take charge of the Mount Albert Probation Home (Auckland). Air E. H. E. Alien, who recently underwent a serious operation at the Palmerston North Hospital, has relumed to hi* home at To Hero, much beuelitted, Mr and Mrs George Hughes, of Foxtou, iuteud takiug up residence at Paakakariki. They have resided in the former town for nearly 45 years, Mr Hughes having been connected with the Railway Department when ho first resided at Foxton. Of recent years ho has indulged in farming. A wedding of interest was solemnised at Foxton last week, when Mr Alexander Lee Caldcr, son of Mr and Mr* Alex. Caldcr, of Auckland, was married to Lilian Madelcue Rand, daughter of Air aud Mrs C. Rand, of Foxton. Tho bride was dressed in white crope-de-ebone and georgette, trimmed with pearls, aud carried a spray bouquet. Miss Esmeo Benuett, chief bridesmaid, was dressed in pink crepe-de-chene, trimmed with pale blue frieze, while Miss L. Morgan was attired iu palo blue crcne dc-chetfe. Mr George Nisbett was best man, and Mr Cyril Grey groomsman. After the ceremony over .100 guests were royally entertained. The presents were numerous, including a number of substantial cheques. The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a gold necklet and locket, and gold and pearly brooches to the bridesmaids. The bride’s present lo tho bridegroom tvus a travelling rug. Major Addington, who has been absent from Otaki for some mouths, during which time ho spent much time in the Orcwcra country and Rotorua, returned home on Sunday, after a most pleasant and profitable sojourn. Tho Alajor speaks most enthusiastically of the Urewera country', and considers for scenery it would be extremely hard to beat. Major Addington hopes to leave shortly for Queensland, after which he w ill proceed to England.
