FAREWELL SOCIAL. (Contribntcd.) On Monday evening lust the Fariah Hall was filled to overflowing, as showing the esteem in which Mrs Noutheo (who is leaving the district) is held by all sections of the community. Apologies for absence were received from Mr and Mrs Robert Bevan and family, Mi.-s Houghton, and the vicar (Rev. G. F. Petrie). The Anglican Ladies’ Guild made a parting gift of a handsome silver teapot and hot water jug. Iu the absence of the Vicar the presentation was made by Mr Mickle, who expressed the regret all felt on losing one who had been a most willing worker for the past seventeen years. Mr Trcvetbick suitably responded on behalf of Mrs Southee. Cheers were heartily given for the guest of the evening, followed by “She’s a Jolly Good Fellow.” During the evening songs were contributed by Misses Myra and Florrie Bevan and by Miss Malcolm, accompanied by Miss Cotter, and recitation:! by Mr Trevcthick. All the items were highly appreciated. The singing of “Auld Lang Syne” brought a most pleasant evening to a •‘inclusion.
