RAISING MONEY TOR RELIEF. The Minister for Internal Affairs has given public notice as iollows: “Owing to the revoking and cancelling of permits for collections, or receiving or raising of moneys for war funds (vide Government “Gazette” No. JB, of the lith March, .1911)), the establishment of further war funds is considered undesirable. “it being the desire of the Govern- i meat to assist all those who may bo charitably disposed in the direction of I providing assistance to distressed Euro- ’ peans, I therefore notify that pursuant io the War Rands Act, while 1 cannot authorise street collections, bazaars, -ales, art unions, or the collection of woney by any similar methods, it will no quite lawful for funds to be raised •iv a general appeal, by any person at i public meeting, from church congregations, or other assembly of persons, ,[• for the person so appealing to receive such subscriptions. <‘Provision will be made by the Uu»ernincut for the transmission by cable, through the High Commissioner for New Zealand, without cost, of all sums .so raised, provided they be paid to the nearest approved war fund for remit - lance to the Tuder-Eccretury, Internal Affairs Department, Wellington, or are forwarded- direct by the poison repte settling the collective donors. i'er--onal donations may be similaily jemitted. “With u view to preventing any ini on' cuicnec, all remittances may be made by payment to any branch of the !
