To have the man you love propose to you, to accept him and to be the happiest girl on earth, then, just a few minutes later, to find him kissing a woman you hate! Hard lines, eh.’ It is the situation that confronts Dorothy Gish in one of the dramatic moments of “Boots,” her newest Paramount picture, which will be shown at Brights’ Theatre to-morrow night. It is easily Dorothy’s best to date—which is saying a whole lot ! On Thursday “Raflles” will be shown, while on Friday “The Man from Kangaroo”—a big star —will lathe attraction.

Fi. J. Carroll, guided by previous experience. helped by an up-to-dali knowledge of moving picture work, and by providing ample capital combined with a perfect business and producing organisation, has succeeded in completing a picture drama that is claimed to be in every respect equal to the best imported dramas ever screened in thi; country'. The story of “The Man from Kangaroo” is a strong, virile tale oi outback life, containing as a emit ran a short insight into the doings of the Sydney “underworld.” It is concise and coherent, and never verges on the impossible. The audience follows tinfortunes of “The Man” from start to finish with the happy feelings that such things might happen to anyone, and at no period of the story is the “long arm of coincidence” dragged in to hold the plot together. The situations which develop afford “Snowy” Baker magnificent opportunities to display lus prowess as Australia ’s leading ’ all-nmnd athlete-actor, and apart from boxing includes high dives, desperate jump--from and on to moving vehicles, exhibitions of buck-jumping, a leap from a tree on te a galloping bridleless horse, and a general all-round display <- “stunt” acting that is absolute!;amazing. “The Man Irom Kanguioo Trill be presented at Bright*’ Theatre on Friday.
