OTAKI—FRIDAY. (Before J. L. Stout, Esq. S.M.) Drunkenness. A first offender, who was charged with drunkenness, was convicted and lined os and costs, in default 21 hours’ imprisonment. Theft. A man named Henry Thomas Bimklus, alias Thos. Davis Murtagh, ap- 1 peured before the Court, charged with the theft of a pair of pant- value JOs, pair of boots value -lUs, spurs value -Is, and a bag value oils, Accused pleaded guilty, and elected summary treatment. Constable Sntkerley said accused lmd tried several times to sell the bag and articles. He was an old offender. Accused was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment in Wellington gaol, with hard labour. Wandering stock. J. Aplin was charged, on the information of Mr It. C. Dick, ranger for the Hutt County Council, with allowing cattle to trespass on the Valley Hoad, Parajtaraumu. There was no appearance oi defendant, who, the ranger said, was an old offender, having been lined on several occasions for like offences. The B.M. inflicted a line of £8 and msts 12s. tj. (7. Batten, charged with a like offence, was lined os with costs J2s. Two informations served by Geo. Gallagher (Otaki town ranger) were withdrawn by consent, on the application of Mr Staveley.
