BUILDING RESTRICTIONS.

I —« — IMPOIITANT KEGULATIONS. We iiavc been requested to give publicity to the following new regulations restricting the erection of new buildiugs or development works, which 'nave been framed by the Government to prevent, the absorption of labour and materials in the erection of costly and luxurious buildings, etc,, at tire expense of dwellings and other necessary buildings:

On and after the coming into force ‘of these regulations it shall nut be lawful for any local authority or for any local authority or for any person or body corporate to undertake or commence any dcvclopment works, or to enter into any contract for any such works during the continuance of these regulations, without lirst obtaining. | pursuant to these regulations, the cunj sent, of the Minister of finance to do Nothing in the tor eyeing regulations . shall apply— ! (a) To any development works the total cost or the estimated total cost I of which does not exceed £.‘100(1; or | lb) To any building proposed to be erected wholly or principally for residential purposes; or (<•) Where any building, or other work has been destroyed or damaged Ire lire or earthquake, to the reconstruction or repair of sia-h building or v.ork, so far as the total cost of such reconstruction or repair does not exceed (lie amount of insurance moneys lit; unv) paid or payable in respect to the destruction ot' or damage to the original building or work as aforesaid.
