AGRICULTURAL TRAINING.

CLUBS FOR BOYS AND GIRLS. i ‘‘The organisation of agricultural 1 clubs for boys and girls is regarded in the United Slates and Canada as tku most profitable work that State agricultural officers can undertake.” said Captain IV. K. Dirks, of the Australian Imperial Force. Captain Eirks is a member of the staff of the New South Wales Agricultural Department, and he recently made a tour of North America iu search of information while on leave prior to demobilisation. He was psrticularlv impressed with the development of the agricultural club scheme iu the United States and Canada, and is strongly ■ I L opinion that the movement ought to be fostered in this conntrv. Captain Dirks mentioned that he had met Mr IV. Stuart Wilson, who had been taking a prominent part in the introduction of the agricultural clubs scheme to Notv Zealand. Mr IVilaon had prepared a booklet showing what had been done already, quoting the o.unions of some of New- Zealand s foremost citizens and suggesting that the Prince of Wales should be asked to use his great personal influence for the encouragement of ! ’ agricultural clubs throughout rhe British Empire. The suggestion, said Captain Birks. was attractive. Ilis own observations had convinced him that tne scheme was worthy* ot all the comin.ndation given it and of all the support that could be accorded to it.
