A meeting of the Horovlienua Rugby U*ion ivas Held on Thursday night at Levin. Mr J. W. Procter presiding.. A deputation from Foxton waited on the meeting, and ashed, among other , things, that the classification of mem- I hers should not be too rigid, as the Fox- | ton Club had only a small membership. The meeting promised to give the matter every consideration, the classification to be arranged after the opening matches had been played. Mr T. Wcliipcihana announced that a junior team had been formed at Kuku, and would compete for the junior championship. Mr W. Wcliipcihana favoured playing some of the matches on tlio Otaki ground, to save teams travelling so far south, but the chairman opposed the proposal, saying that if there was not sufficient, interest manifested in Otaki. to raise a team it would not be wise to play outside matches on their ground. In reply to a question re the confusion that had arisen over the Waikanae fixture the previous Saturday, it was stated that in the first draw of the fixtures, for which Waikaune had ' been entered as a senior team, they had been allotted a match with Manakau, but when Waikanae withdrew and decided to play junior, Kuku was given ■ the match with Manakau. Waikanae, thinking their fixture held good, and that they would meet the Manakau juniors, had sent their team up to Manakau, who were not. prepared to meet them.
The secretary reported that, he had written to the Wanganui, Rangitikei, Mannwatu and Wellington Unions with regard to repre: entativc kome-and-home fixtures. The Mauawatu Union had replied stating that they would be prepared to send a-representative team To play Horowhenua at Levin on June 10th.
