GOLF.
The first ladies’ competition of the season resulted in a win for Mrs AY. M. Simcox, So —10—75. Miss Bennett being- a very close second with a nett 76. The men ’a medal round played last Saturday was perhaps a record for the club, in that four players finished with a nett score under SO. These were P. Simcox S6 —16—70, W. St. George SO—l6 —To, F. S. Simcox S7 —12 —75. Podevin 93 —16 — 77. p. Simcox has picked up the form ho showed at the end of last season, and should redeem his handicap considerably this year. It is pleasing to soe a | young player in St, George coming to . the front. He has a free, natural scor- | ing. and will make a good player. ' The club has felt the need of a good coach very- much oTrecent years. Young players pick up bad faults very easily, j but they are very hard to eradicate. | The secretary has made enquiries with j the view of getting a professional up for a week, but the cost is prohibitive. Mr Selwyn Simcox has generously i volunteered to give a lot of his time to coaching any member wko cares to j avail himself of his services. Mr Sel- ( wyn Simcox- thoroughly understands j both the theory and practice of golf, i I and may make a first-class coach. Any j member wanting lessons will please adivse the secretary.
