THE PRINCE'S VISIT.

THE OTAKI FUNCTION. The arrangements in connection with the reception of the Prince of Wales at Otaki on Monday afternoon next are well in hand. Mr H. Wills (principal of the Native College) will act as marshal, and will have associated with him Mr W. B. fcmith and Captain P. Tahiwi.

The matter of decorations is in the hands of Messrs Bassett, Isherwood, Pole, and Albert Smith, who intend making a display worthy of the occasion.

An endeavour is being made for tho children to sing some appropriate items, they being assisted by the Otaki Maori Band.

The erection of a platform at the entrance to the railway buildings i". being undertaken by the Railway Department, and an excellent job is being made. Altogether the arrangements tire proceeding most satisfactorily. It does not seem to be quite certaiu as yef how many children will be present from outside centres, but it is hoped there will be a very largo muster from To Horo, Waihoauga, aud Manaksiu. The elder pupils of these schools will be visiting I'abnerstou North or Wellington, but seeing that rather more than half of Ihe children attending all the schools are below the. third

standard —aud are thus debarred from travelling on the trains —every eSort should be made to provide for the little ones seeing the Prince, and «n excel lent opportunity is provided by th» vis.it to Otaki. A meeting of representative men will lie held to-morrow night at. Otaki to make final arrangements for the Otaki l auction. TUB OTAKI ADDRESS.
