There is a general feeling ! that school committee? should be given ' wider powers, and we notice that the ' editor of one of our contemporaries—- ■ a Gentleman who has always taken ;. foremast part in educational matters—- ' advocates the abolition of education ' hoards, and the ve-ting of the func- '., tions of such bodies in the school com- ■ ruitteoi". In connection with to-night's elections, we would be greatly obliged it secretaries of committees would kindly send us reports of the elections, as it is impossible for our representatives to attend all the meetings. Women's Votes. In connection with the annual meeting of parishioners of All Saints' Church, to lie held at the Druids'Hall, Otaki, on Monday evening next, it is worthy of mention that this is the first occasion on which women, as well as men. will be allowed to take parr in these meetings, and to exercise their votes. In this respect the Anglican Church has lagged far behind many oj its sister churches, several of which have for years leeched very considerable assistance from women members. In these days, when women figure so prominently in nearly all walks of life, when equal opportunity is given to both seses as regards education it is only fitting that women should have equal rights with men as regards church government. We hope ilinf, the
ladies of ibis district, in common with others, will take full advantage of the opportunities now presented them, and that tlii' annual parishioners' meetings 111\ ~ year will be strengthened and rendered more interesting as a result of this forward movement of the church.
