OTAKI LITERARY AND DEBATING CLUB.

* ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the above was held on Monday night last, when thero was only a small attendance, doubtless due io the very wet night. Rev. G. F. Petrie presided. The minutes of the las! annual meeting were read aud confirmed, and thi balance-sheet was submitted by the ire.-v-urer (Miss Ktli.-l Pill-), disclosing a credit balance in hand of £1 Gs tid. The election of officers resulted as under:—President. Rev. OS. F. Petrie, M.A. (re-elected); vice-presidents. Miss Lee. MrC. T. Atmore and Rev. W. G. Slade. M.A'.; editor of journal. Mrs Pox; horn secretary and treasurer. Mr A. R. Rudkin; committee. Sister Lewis. Misses Crellin and Ethel Bills, Messrs Wills, T. Collins, and Frank Penn: hen. auditor, Mr M. H. Ayre. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Miss Bills (retiring secretary) axd Messrs T. Collins and Rudkiu for assistance given in secretarial work. Mention was also made of the energy and ability displayed by Rev. Petrie as president of the club. It was reported that: quite a number cf new members cere assured, and the prospects of the season are most cheering. The committee met a;ter the annual meeting, and decided that the season open on Monday. May 10th. with a social evening, the president and Mi Penu being deputed to arrange a programme for the evening.
