[ HORTICULTURAL AND INDUSTRIAL SOCIETY. The executive committee of tin above society met on Monday night k receive the secretary and trca.-iiier - report of the autumn show. Tin .-i was a success in every respect, and there was’a credit balance ot over tl-t. The total cash in baud amounted to £33. Several competitors returned their prize money, among them being Mrs A. Mackay, whose cash winningtotalled £3 7s. Mr Clarke (treasurer) expressed tit" groat indebtedness ot the members ! |! Mr J. G. Maclean (secretary) for the enormous amount, of time and v.oihad put iu in connection with the s-stuv..
and which iu a large measure countbated to the success of the affair. 'j he committee meeting was .follow ic by a general meeting of members. Mi Crumb presided. J.f was decided to hold a spring-show . on September Ist, if that dale should prove suitable. Mr L. G. Reid. hOI., was unanimously elected a vice-pn -;- dettt of the society, and Miss B<>n:h and Mr C. Hunt were added to twexecutive committee. Home time devoted to n revision of tlu- solo luv: and many alterations were sugg'-tul.
The narcissi classes were much * 1 ■ tended, and now number 29, as again.-t eight in the old schedule. Eight sections in the open class for narcissi were included.
SOCIAL GATHERING

Beckett, F. Hudson. G. 1 - iperton, Schon and Hooper wore t ;o men to be entertained, but unfortua ately only Mr Beckett was aluo to n present, apologies being received some of the others, all of whom are . now residents of Panipiirnumo. Items wore rendered by Misses I'c potts and Black (songs). Miss .li'lin-on pianoforte polo, Mr D. Lynch song. ;, nd Miss Z. Adams fancy dancing. Mr W. Howell presented Mr Beck, tt with a medal as a small memento Dow the residents, and similar tokens w bo forwarded to the other men. balance of the evening was spent m dancing by the large audience. Mi I ’. Brazier was an efficient M.C.
