Mr E. T. Maddock, taxi-driver, of Otaki, has been adjudged a bankrupt, as advertised by the Deputy Official Assignee. A meeting of creditors is to be held at Palniorston North on the 22nd Inst.
A social, under the auspices of the Manakau Cricket Club, will be held in the Manakau Public Hall on Thursday next, when an enjoyable time is assured all who attend. Good music and a fine supper are promised.
The Paraparaumu Horticultural Society, meets to-night, when the matter of holding a spring show (September next) will be considered. It is highly probable that the Society will hold two shows each year—one in September and the other in March.
Otaki men need not go to town to secure their clothing requirements, but should send to Stiles and Mathesou for their needs. They have a tine stock of fashionable men's wear, at very reasonable imccs. Postage is paid on all eash orders.
It, was stated in our last issue, in error, that the annual election of school committees would be held tonight. The elections throughout the Wanganui education district take place to-night, but those for the Wellington district on Wednesday of next week. ■2Sth inst.

at Brigbts' Theatre, Otaki, on Friday 1 nijjht. at a social gathering given by the local Natives. The main attraction of the evening was the series of poi dances given by the Native girls and women, in eostmae. These dances were exactly the game as will be given before tie Prince of Wales at Kotortm. While playing on a swing yesterdny, a little boy, son of Mr and Mrs Percy Bennett, Otaki Railway, fell and fractured his arm. Dr. ISharpe attended the little sufferer.
About 100 Otaki Natives left this morning by the Napier express train for Palmorston North, en route for Kotortta. there to lake part in the welcome to the Prince of Wales. Some 40 Kuku and Levin Natives are also going to Kotorua for the function, in which some 7000 Maoris are expeulcd to take part.
Certain new regulations are now being enforced at the OUk? Sanatorium, among the number being one with respect to visitors'that the public would do well to take notice of. This regulation is to the effect that in future the visitors' hours will bo as under: —Sundays, 1.30 to 4 p.m.; Wednesdays, "1 to 1 p.m. This regulation will be strictly enforced.
The price of new boots is prohibitive fn many families, and in consequence it is advisable to have old boots repaired. Take them to F.
