The monthly meeting of the above n, held at Levin on Wednesday afternoon last, presided over by Mr P. W. (>ol<isuiit!i, when a large amount o!" corr. -pondei.ee was dealt with. A gift of £4 v.a„- received.from Mr Ji W. Drcwitt. of Paraparaumu, (■•rough Messrs Dalgcty and Co., the donation being the proceed" of a sale. The gift was received with thanks. A grant of si! per week for thirteen weeks for an Otaki soldier v.a«i, re- : i wed. The ijuestion of precedent was, raised •/ ben an application was received aski: -z for a gran*. The ease was, that of s soldier who was ordered to hospital to undergo special treatment. He therefore as.ked the Association to make up the difference between his ordinary earnings and the pension received during that period. Mr 15. R. Gardener "-aid this opened a big question, and if granted would form a precedent for future cose*. Tie Chairman said the soldiers' disabilities :■■■'■■:<: brought, about by th» car, and he was therefore entitled to consideration, Mr F. WalkJey supported this view, and said it was a case that should appeal to the Association. Mr 'f. G. Vincent asked what would be the position of men with permanent disabilities- Patriotic bodies COTUjJ hardly be expected to r-jakc up the difference between their pension* and 'heir c-ar.aicg capabilitie*.
