Sir James Allen is at present due to sail from Wellington on the i9th inst. Mrs Groves and family, of Levin, returned to JN r ew Zealand by the Ulimaroa, which reached Wellington on Monday. Mr and Mrs H. N, Lanchcster, who have been spending a couple of days at Otaki, left this morning for their new home at Taradale, Napier. Sir Joseph Ward is a passenger on the Manuka, which left Sydney for Wellington yesterday. Sister Lewis, of Otaki, has been granted leave from her duties to visit Rotorua with the Natives during the Prince's stay in the thermal regions. Sister Lewis expects to leave Otaki on Monday for the north. Among the gifts received by Mrs Bennett (nee Miss Gardener), of Levin, were a dozen stainless kni.ves, the gift of the Horowhenua Rugby bunion, of which her father, Mr B. R, Gardener, has been connected for many years. The Rev. ,1. li. Haslam and Mrs Haslam were entertained by the Levin Methodists and friends on Monday : night. Horowhenua County Patriotic Association decided at Wednesday 's meeting to write one of its members, Mr Kilsby, of Kopuraroa, wishing him a speedy return to his usual health. Mr .Kilsby. who has been an inmate of a private hospital in Wellington for some time, is expected home this week. General Bramwell Booth, head of tho Salvation Army, -will visit Nc« Zealand in June, arriving in Welling ton on the 7th. The Mayor lias ;ir ranged tor a civic reception on the following day. The visit of Colonel Booth will be marked by special gatherings under tin; auspices of the Salvation Army, including a National Convention, opening on June 20. .Mr H. H. Ostler, formerly Crown Prosecutor in Wellington, and for some years past in legal practiec in Auek land, is at present in Wellington in connection with a case before the Court of Appeal.
