CURIOUS DISCREPANCIES. Price variations in the Dominion continue. They arc difficult to understand. A tin containing 1:; ounces «f tobacco—reputed 2 ounces—is obtainable in A\ T uihi for Is Id. in Auckland for Is ojd, iu AVelliugton for Js old, in Whangarei for Is (id. Cigarettes that cost lOd in Invercargill are obtainable in New Plymouth for 7id. On the other hand. New Plymouth sells rump steak for Is I’d per pound, whereas the Dannevirkc price is Uni. AVaihi retailers charge Is per pound for pork sausages, which in Dunedin are pur■liaseable for 7d, and is AVelliugton ost Sid. The distinction of obtaining he highest retail price for leg of inut•>n is -hared by Hamilton and Rotorua, vlterc it: costs lOd per pound.
