The treasurer's statement showed the ;eneral account to have a credit bal a nce of £O4 os led, and tin- insurance fund a credit of ££o 2s Id. The see.refiiry's re|iort was ns under: —“l may state that for four years the Union, on account .»! (lie late uur, ceased their activities in connection with champion fixtures, but I am pleas lM | j., state that on account of the happy ending of the war tile t men thought it, opportune to reinstate the champion fixtures last season, with the •esult that three senior and font jtinun teams entered for lire contest.-. 1 re-.j-et to state licit the senior c.impel’ lions were veiy one-sided, caused rhlout'll the Levin Wanderers exicroe.-
civ one team, with the result that they had o very easy win e'er the opposing teams. The refolds of the -enioi- contests were us follows: Levin Wanderers, It-’ points; liui Mai. (: points; Shannon. 0. The efloct ol the Levin Wanderers being so strong was that only three rounds were played in place of a probable live, the result In-ing that the finances ot the Union suffered in regard to gate takings. On the other hand the junior contests were well contested, the final results being: Levin Wanderers, Iff points; Hui Mail. .12 point.*; Shannon, .1! points; Otaki, 1 points, hire rounds were played, and it is needless to state that the junior contests supplied the largest portion of the gate takings. The representative matches played during the season were as follows: Against the Rniigil ikei Rugby Union, two:
.■gainst the Mnnuwalu Rugby Union. and resulted in three wins and „jH draw for the Ilorow henna Rugby Union' representatives. Only one
juniO’- rCpi'Psen'ntive match v.as played Kniigitikci. and resulted in
the' defeat of this Union 's representatives. May I suggst that, if possible, more junior representative matches be played during the season, as the contests not only have the effect of increasing the revenue of the Union, but also encourage tiie junior teams to tiersevere with their practices. In conclusion I wish, on behalf of the Union, to thank those supporters who gave hand-
some trophies for competition as febiows:„Mr Lindsay McDonald (silver i-np. won by Levin .Wanderers). Mr K J. Nash (gold medal). Airs Hugh Hall (champion banner). The financial position of the Union will be placed before von by the hot., treasurer and is. 3. understand, very satisfactory. AVislij'mg the Union all success tor the cur- , cut season and thanking the members si ncerelv for their kindness and eour-te.-.T to myself during the past season.
