Mrs Riggort, who has been a resident of Otaki for a number of years, has taken over the Jubilee Hotel, one of the leading hostelries ou the coast, from Mrs Mcßeath, who has been hostess for many years, but who of recent years has been in indifferent health.

Master Jack Stone, of Otaki Kailway, had the misfortune on Thursday to fall from a tree in Domain road, severely injuring himself. Ho was taken to a near-by residence and given every attention. It. "was. however, some time before he regained his normal state.

Owing to continued ill-health Mr A. J. R.-Isherwood, proprietor of the Otaki Railway Hotel, has been ordered by his medical adviser to relinquish business, ami with Mrs Isherwood and family will probably take up residence at I'nlmerston North. In all probability Mrs Dougaii. late of Otaki and Levin, will again take possession of the hotel.

On Wednesday afternoon last Miss Diaper, who has filled the position of postmistress at Te Horo for some years with great ability, was entertained at

afternoon tea at the Te Horo Public Hall, when there was a large gathering. Mr G. W. Kirk, on behalf of the residents of Te Horo. presented Miss Diaper with a leather suit case ami hatbox, and in doing so referred to the courteous and painstaking way in which Miss Diaper had carried out her duties, and also referred to her rea lines-- to assist in any social (unctions. Miss Diaper suitably responded. Mass Diaper has gone to Wellington jo reside with her parents. Miss Sinclair is acting as relieving postmistress at Te Horo.
