The Pahiatua County Council is raising a loan of £32,000 for bridges, housing, and road machinery. The local banks will be closed on Friday, Saturday. Monday and Tuesday for the Easter holidays. A. meeting of the Horowheuua School Teachers' Institute was held at Otaki on Saturday last. Questioned on the matter by a reporter, an officer stated that there was nothing to report.

At a meeting of business people at Levin it was decided to close business premises from Thursday;night till Tues. day morning for the Easter holidays. It was also resolved to form a Chamber of Commerce among the Levin business people. At the motor cycle sports at Takapuna, H. Einn, when competing in the President's Handicap, was touched by another compel iter and fell. His machine skidded, and he was flung across a ditch. Eiiin had one leg broken and the other leg severely injured. There was also evidence of internal injuries. He was taken to the hospital, where he dieu next morning. A motoring fatality occurred at Kakahouka, Invorcargill. While a. car,

Draught horses sold in Dannevirke last week realised £4O each, hacks made tip to £l2. unbroken from £27 to £ls. Out of-eighty horses only four were passed in.
It is stated that Mr A. A. Landall has sold his farm at Rangiuru to Mr A. Giddens, of Otaki, while Mr K. T. Smith, of Kimberloy Koad, Levin, has sold to Mr Sutcliff, a returned soldier.
The Traffic Committee in connection with the visit, of the Prince of Wales to Now Plymouth suggests to parents that all children coming into town for the celebrations should have their names fastened securely k> some portion of their clothing, so that- in the event of a child geftiug away from it* friends it could easily be identified.
