RAM FAIR.
The Canterbury Ham Fair opened on Thursday, -when flock rams were sold. The entry was 5100, an increase of 500 on last year's figures. There was exceptionally keen demand for Corriedalc and half-bred rams, the former selling up to 30gns, as compared with Signs last year, and the latter to 12Jgns as against GlSgns. Prices for these .-lasses were an outstanding feature of the fair. English Leicesters, which formed about half the total entry, sold well up to il-lgns. but the wants of suppliers were not ecjual to the entry, and vitlues subsided before the iiuish. There was also an over-supply of Rommays, the to]) price for which was 1-1 gns. The Holder Leicester sale was patchy at- up to Rignns, whilst Eineolns, Southdowns and Shropshire* were out of favour, the best prices being igns, Signs, and "gns respectively.
