OPENING OP NEW POST OFFICE. After the ceremony in connection with the formal opcni»g of tho new post office at Packakariki (reported in our last, issue), afternoon tea was provided. gratis, at St Peter’s HaU, and
a pleasant time was spent by all. Tu the evening a social and dance were held to celebrate the occasion. The musical items were particularly good, and a most enjoyable timo was spent by the large number present. A pleasant little function took place •it (he social, in the shape of a presentation lo Mr and Mrs Phillpotts, of Waikanae, taking tho form of a snitnblv inscribed silver teapot. Mr Early (vice-chairman of St. Peter’s Hal! committee) made the presentation, and iu a neat speech referred to the excellent services rendered by Mr Phillpotts as custodian of the hull since its opening. soiuo two years ago, until the date oAus recent transfer to Waikanae. Musical honours w r ere accorded the recipients of the presentation, and Mr Phillpotts suitably responded.
