Mr Peter Bell, a Wanganui pioneer, is dead, aged Sli years. Ho arrived in the ship New lira in 1555.

Mrs C. McGill, who has been spending a holiday in Otaki, returned to Wellington on Saturday.

Hr. and Mrs Paterson and family, who have been on a holiday visit to Otaki, returned to their home at ■Pallia tua on Saturday,

Mr Gerald Anderson, our local auctioneer and land agent, is indisposed, and in consequence was unable to conduct his usual weekly sale on Saturday at the Otaki mart. We wish him a speedy recovery.

Upon inquiry yesterday a “Times” representative was informed that the Prime Minister continues to make favourable progress towards recovery. The Hon. Mr Massey will, however, be 'in hospital for at; least another week, complete rest and quiet being essential to a speedy recovery.

• Mr David .T. Nathan, one. of Wellington’s most prominent citizens, died with tragic suddenness on .Saturday morning. The late Mr Nathan was the son oE the late Mr Joseph Nathan, -fonuder of the firm of Messrs Nathan and Co. He was born at Wellington fid years ago, and completed his education at Wellington College. On leaving that institution lie entered the firm controlled by his father, and in tho course of a few years, by dint of hard work and careful attention to detail, toso to the position of managing director, which position lie occupied at the time of his death. Mrs Nathan and Miss Nell Nathan arc at. present in New York.
