MANAKAU NOTES.

The annual picnic in connection with the Manakau school is being held today at the Faekakariki beach. Perfect weather has attracted a largo number of parents and friends, and the cSildren, of course, have assembled in force. A very pleasant day should be spent.
Mrs J. H. Andrew and family and Mrs Hedley Parsonson, who have been holiday-making at Plinmierton for a, few weeks, have returned to Manakau, after a pleasant change.
-V meeting was held at Manakau on Tuesday night last in connection with the peace memorial. Mr Les. Atkins presided over a good attendance. Mr Fisher, monumental mason, of Palmersfon North, attended the meeting, and gave prices and particulars re proposed monuments.
After discussion it was resolved to erect a granite obelish, mounted on concrete base, and Mr Fisher was ordered to proceed with the work at once.
The meeting TCsolved to erect the monument on the main road, opposite the public hall.
