Mrs Howie, of Palmerston North, is at present on holiday iu Otaki.

Colonel Wylie, Inspector of Hospitals, paid an official visit to Otaki on Friday.

Mr Newson. sea., of Manaknu, has entered the Otaki Hospital for medical treatment.

Mr Len Freeman, (Foxton) has been appointed a vice-president of the New I Zealand Licensed Victuallers’ Association.

’ Mr W. Chandler, of Otaki Railway, had the misfortune a few days ago to fall from a stack. It has now been found that some of his ribs are broken.

The death took place at Auckland last week of Mrs E. Bradnoy, mother of H. Bradnoy, cx-M.P., at. the age of £>2. Mrs Bradnev arrived in Ncw Zcaland from Staffordshire in 1859.

The engagement is announced of Miss May Anderson, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Anderson, Karori, to Mr W. Perry, elder son of Mr J. Perry, Levin.

Mrs T. M. Wilford, accompanied by Miss Wilford, is leaving for San Francisco by the Tofua next month. Mrs Wilford has been one the most consistent and strenous workers for patriotic causes during the whole war period, and her many friends, and those who appreciated her work, will wish her a pleasant holiday, and rcstordp health as a result.

Miss Christensen, who has been on the staff of the Otaki State school' for the past year, on Friday afternoon received notice of transfer to Levin, and ' has already left to take up her new ; position. During her stay in Otaki I Miss .Christensen has proved a very efficient teacher, while her courteous fend obliging manner has made for her *• many friends.
