An old resident, of raraparaumu—Mi Frank Carlson-died in the Wellington Hospital, and was buried at l’a.rapnraunni on Monday. Dcceuaed, who was about Cl years of age, was we known and respected. Mr Ben Mantle, of raraparaumu, is at present ousily engaged in preparing to place an opera,, of his own composing. before the Wellinglon public. He will be assisfed in his project by Mr Archer, who at one time was a leading light: in amateur performances at Levin and Otaki. -News lias been received of the death ' of Mr Guilford. which occurred at ' Johnsouville. death being due to influenza. Mrs Guilford is also reported to be seriously ill from the same malady. Mrs ’Bromley, of Manakau. is sister to Al rs Guilford. Mr and Mrs J. J. Davison have been in Otaki during the past day or two. Thcv are taking up residence at Kaponga, where Mr Davison has secured a general storekeeper’s business. Tlie. jnanv friends of Mr and Mrs Davison throughout this district will wish them every success in their venture.
