Wonder (Campfire—Ceeilc), sold recently by Mr “Dug.” Webster, oi Otaki, scored her first win in Sydney last month, by winning the FourteenTwo Handicap, of 130 sovs, by it head. Wonder is now trained by the ex-Ncw Zealander, H. J. Dick, who fully expects to annex other events.
A gang of thieves has been operating in New Plymouth during race week. 11l one hotel on Thursday guests were relieved of about £IOO. In another hotel on the previous night £6O was lost. Some flays ago it was reported that at Auckland and Rotorua hotel thieves were at work, and in a northern hotel a Wellington resident was relieved *f a large sum.
