Although we believe there is no need for alarm at the number of slight iu- • linenza cases reported, it behoves one j and all to take due precautions to prei vent a serious outbreak. All the ‘ authorities agree that thorough ventilation and plenty of fresh air are the two safest pveventatives. By advertisement the Palmerston North HospD tal Board recommends to the public that the key to prevention is through the thorough ventilation of all dwellings by means of open doors and windows. Unwashable material like rugs ami carpets should be exposed to fresh stir and sunlight, which are the best and cheapest of disinfectants. We hope ■ hat readers w ill take due heed of this notice. OUTLOOK IN PALMERSTON DISTRICT. The Secretary of the Palmerston North Hospital Board yesterday informed us that the Palmerston North Hospital District is keeping particularly free from the epidemic. Only a few mild cases have been reported. The Board, however, is taking all necessary steps so that everything will be in readiness in case Ihe dread malady increases. DEATH AT CHRISTCHURCH. The t isolation ward at the hospital at present contains seven fairly severe cases of a pneumonic type, and five or six mild cases.
