LEVIN MARDI GRAS.
BIG FUNCTION NEXT WEDNESDAY. Very keen interest has been aroused over the. Levin Mardi Gras, and the big function to be held at the Levin Domain on Wednesday next, 11th inst.. promises to be a record gathering. A strong committee is working hard, and as the public are showing the keenest enthusiasm everything should go off well.
We would specially remind intending competitors that entries for the various events close with the. secretary (Mr K. E. Adams) on Monday next nt 5 p.m. Details of the programme appear elsewhere. from which it will be seen that it comprises many novel and interesting events. It is hoped Otaki and other parts of the district will be well represented at the gathering.
At a meeting of the executive at Levin the following were appointed judges of the various events at the Mardi Gin*: *— Decorated motor car, motor cycle, bicycle, pram cr go-cart. Messrs .T. K. Hornblow (Foxton) and F. Penn (Otaki); costumed horseman, senior or junior, Mr G. Tally (Ihnkara); decorated parasol, senior and junior, most artistic costume (ladies), most-humorous costume (men), best costumed boy and best costumc-d girl, Mesdamcs T. Bevan, C, S. Keedwell and E. Nash; tug-of-war, Mr G. Watson; wrestling on horseback. Mr G. Tally; pillow fighting, Sergeant-Major Gettings; baby show, Dr. Elizabeth Bryson; athletic events. Mr Gardener and officials of Amateur Athletic Society; swimming events, Mr H. .Tones.
